
Two police officers were detained after being discovered intoxicated and asleep inside a parked vehicle in the province of Jujuy. The incident occurred recently after a call to emergency service 911 alerted about a Peugeot 308 vehicle with its engine running poorly parked at the intersection of Almirante Brown Avenue and Viltipico in the capital of Jujuy.
The officers went to the location after the alert and confirmed the situation, waking up the officers. Subsequently, the Road Safety personnel conducted a breathalyzer test, which yielded a positive result of 2.17 g/l of blood alcohol for the driver and 1.26 g/l for the passenger.
Both officers were placed at the disposal of the Justice, and the proceedings were sent to the zonal deputy prosecutor of the Public Ministry of the Accusation. He requested that the men be transferred to the Infantry Corps headquarters as detainees, and that the incident be reported to the Police Personnel Department.
In the words of the zonal deputy prosecutor of the Public Ministry of the Accusation: "This type of conduct is unacceptable and will be treated with the severity it deserves. Society must be able to trust its security forces, and we will not tolerate behaviors that go against the law."
